A one of a kind fundraising event!

The Safenet Summit is Safenet Services’ newest fundraising event. A group of dedicated individuals climb the tallest mountain in Colorado, Mount Elbert, in efforts to raise significant funds for Safenet. The Safenet Summit was created to signify the journey a domestic violence survivor takes in the process of leaving their abuser.

Many times, when domestic violence survivors make the decision to leave, it is much like climbing a mountain. For some, it feels like an uphill battle. Some even leave with just the clothes on their back or what they can fit into a backpack. This journey is what the Safenet Summit climbers will be emulating. They will be hiking Mount Elbert with just the essentials packed on their backs.

Meet Your Climbers

Read about why each of these 12 very dedicated volunteers decided to support Safenet Services by climbing Mount Elbert, Colorado’s tallest mountain. Each person has their own “why” and their own goal! Don’t wait! Support your favorite climber today!!

Jody Moore

Did you know, on average, it takes 7 attempts for a victim to leave an abuser? This is in part due to the struggles and obstacles they face when leaving. These victims often leave with very few personal items, sometimes just what they can carry on their back. To honor the uphill battle survivors face when fleeing, Jody will climb Mount Elbert. Like the victims Safenet serves, Jody will be taking only essentials she can carry on her back.

Last year, her journey to the summit was physically and emotionally taxing, mirroring the journey of healing and recovery each and every victim takes to become a survivor. Every time Jody wanted to turn back, she remembered those survivors. So, join Jody for the second annual Safenet Summit to support survivors and help her raise $14,439 as she climbs 14,439 feet.

Being a returning climber, Jody is honored to take part in this meaningful event again this year.

Callie Schmidt

Callie is the owner and designer of The Flower Shop Pryor, where she specializes in weddings and events. She is a mom to two beautiful kids and has been married to her husband Alex for 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, baking, reading, and being outside! Callie is a big supporter, volunteer, and board member for Safenet Services. She is passionate about the good Safenet does and knows how desperately their services are needed.  Callie has chosen to climb Mt Elbert again this year, in order to raise crucial funds for Safenet and their vital services. Please support Callie in reaching her goal!

Eric Munden

Eric Munden is a dedicated community leader in Claremore, Oklahoma, known for his extensive involvement in youth sports and nonprofit organizations. He serves as President of the Claremore Youth Football Association, Youth Basketball of Claremore, and Rogers County Sports Inc. Additionally, he contributes to the broader community as a board member of Safenet Services, a nonprofit supporting individuals affected by domestic violence. Munden’s leadership reflects a strong commitment to youth development and community service in Rogers County.

Professionally he is a Business Development Representative at Double Eagle Alloys, a Tulsa-based distributor specializing in high-performance nickel and stainless-steel alloys. He joined the company in 2024, with his primary responsibilities including driving business development and continuous improvement.

Jennifer Brittain

For the last 17 years, Jennifer has been an employee benefits consultant at Brown & Brown Insurance Services, Inc. where she also serves as lead of the benefits practice in Oklahoma.

Jennifer is a mom, Gigi, and avid animal lover – especially of horses. She is also passionate about community service and legislative issues. One of her most life-changing experiences has been participating in Leadership Oklahoma Class 37, where she has learned about the significant challenges facing Oklahomans, including domestic violence.

Jennifer and her husband, Houston, live on a farm near Pryor where she gets to live her childhood dream of owning horses. For the last several years, they have made a trip to the Rocky Mountains to hike and relax. Jennifer has watched SafeNet deliver top notch services to victims of domestic violence, so she jumped on the opportunity to climb Mt. Elbert in order to do her part to support Safenet’s mission.

“I am hiking because I feel so blessed to have had many mentors and opportunities in my life, and I want to pay that forward to help others have the freedom and faith to live to their full potential.”

Houston Brittain

Houston is the proud husband of Jennifer Brittain and father to three wonderful children – Shane, Colby, and Nora – as well as a grandfather to Colson. Professionally, Houston owns and operates Brittain Risk Management Services LLC, Tri-B Services, and Brittain Farms LLC, and he is currently serving as President and CEO of the Pryor Area Chamber of Commerce.

His passions include hiking, playing golf, following legislative issues, and spending time working on the family farm. This summer Houston is excited to accept the challenge of climbing Mount Elbert in support of Safenet Services – he has a love for the outdoors and is committed to helping others in his community.

“Please help me achieve my goal of $10,000 to help support this wonderful program!”

Rian Burns

Rian’s children describe her as helpful, friendly, strong and always willing to help a squirrel. Since moving to rural Oklahoma from San Francisco, Rian has encountered an unexpected number of squirrels in need of help…

But that’s not relevant here.

What is relevant is that Rian is climbing a mountain with other fellow supporters of Safenet Services for a second year in a row because she believes in the lifesaving work Safenet does. Until funding isn’t always scarce, Rian says she will just have to keep climbing and helping out where she can.

“I’m grateful for the chance to climb with an agency I support so wholeheartedly. Thanks for whatever you can give to this effort.”

Why Donate?

When you donate to the Safenet Summit, you are donating to Safenet Services in Claremore, OK, a non-profit organization serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. Safenet offers emergency shelter, support groups, court advocacy, protective order assistance, a 24/7 crisis call line, and many other services for survivors. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reported that nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States.

Why Donate?

Since 1996, Oklahoma has consistently ranked in the top 10 states for women murdered by men in single-victim/single-offender incidents. Oklahoma is currently ranked 2nd in the nation for women murdered by men. The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survery ranked Oklahoma NUMBER ONE for women and NUMBER TWO for men in the lifetime prevalence of rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. The necessary steps must be taken to try to prevent the cycle of abuse before it begins.
